SIRE: FC 2X RU, GFC FC AFC Staley’s Orange Outlaw Mr. Cooper – “Cooper” OFA EXCELLENT The criteria for earning a Field Champion (FC) title are rigid and very difficult to attain. Cooper also has a Grand Field Champion (GFC) title and most recently an Amateur Field Champion title (AFC). Not only does Cooper have a phenomenal pedigree, but he has proven himself as a world class bird dog on the field trial circuit and hunting field. I chose Cooper as a stud for the following reasons: -OFA Excellent -Tell leggy build for covering ground -Intelligence -Natural retrieve -Natural honoring -Desire to run and hunt with a bottomless tank – Calm at home and in kennel -Within breed standard for size
Cooper is a proven stud dog and has sired many great puppies, one of which our kennel owns, and a few of which we have trained.
DAM: KARAMOJO’S OUT OF AFRICA BLIXEN – This female is out of a past Smoke/Rouge litter. Blixen has done very well for me and was confident once I started working and hunting her that she would make a great addition to our breeding program. The primary female side to our breeding, dating back over a decade to Kenya, Stella, Rouge and Bella, has been tried and true for producing Brittanys with hard points, great bird drive, and trainability. We also really like Blixen’s build. She is tucked in a leggy and can really move through the mountains.
$200 deposit to hold a pick.
Puppies are due around the end of July 2021 and go to homes 7-8 weeks after.

SIRE: AMERICAN FIELD CHAMPION AUGUST RUSH (2011 Victoria Nationale Derby Winner) – Most recently I have been breeding our females to Smoke. This litter, however, the female is from a past Smoke/Rouge litter, so I am studding out. I have studded to August before, and trained two pups that were sired by him. August Rush is an excellent dog who has an efficient loping gait and flat out covers ground. He is great at the longer stakes in competition because of his economy of motion and bottomless tank. This converts to a hunting dog that can run and run and find birds, but has the ability to handle at the proper distance for whatever application is needed depending on cover and terrain. Both August pups that I have trained at our kennel had very hard points and were trainable with extreme bird drive.

While the weather can often be brutal on Idaho’s September opener, this year it was cooler than normal. Pictured is Blixen (Karamojo’s Out of Africa Blixen) with a few chukars. She is a female out of our Smoke/Rouge cross who has done really well for us.

SIRE: HIDEAWAY’S WHITE SMOKE- Smoke is an accomplished bird hunter and field trial dog. This is a special stud dog who had proven himself time and again in front of AKC field trial judges. He has 9 official AKC placements to his name and multiple points in both Open (professional handler) and Amateur (non-pro handler) divisions. Smoke started doing well even when he was young. He was the 2013 Western All-Age Futurity 4th place and continued to impress judges throughout his career as a competitor. His was sired directly by NGDC FC/AFC San Dee Blazing Shane. His mother was FC/AFC Hideaway Red’s Bess Bet. However, most importantly, this dog not only has the genetics, but he has proven himself as a stellar competitor and hunter. The more recently in the line that the dogs have been proven, the best chance you can get a quality hunting dog.
DAM: KARAMOJO’S BELLATRIX LESTRANGE- Bella is a daughter of 3x Am Fld Ch 3x Ru GFC FC Stayley’s Orange Outlaw Mr. Cooper and Karamojo’s Dragon Tattoo JH (Stella). She has everything we look for in a quality hunting dog and producer: extreme bird drive, trainability, hard point, hard running/great pattern, among other traits. Bella is a product of our breeding program which is based on the above traits. We breed for hunting and competition and she fits the bill on both. And she is a sweetheart at home!

Pictured is Bella (Karamojo’s Bellatrix Lastrange) the Brittany on some training birds this summer. We like to run our dogs frequently to keep them tuned up, and because that is what they love to do most. She is pictured in Inkom, Idaho, near Pocatello, holding steady on a flushed pigeon.
We expect our dogs to run hard and be athletes, but this puts a responsibility on dog handlers to keep dogs safe. Training and running dogs in the summer requires handlers to know their dogs and know when they need water or a cool down. Every dog is different, but it is always best to error on the side of caution with your dog’s safety. In the field, you can carry a collapsible dog bowl or pour water into your cupped hand (this way does waste more water). It is possible to use a water bottle directly into a dog’s mouth, but never pour water down a dog’s throat. You must squirt it into the inside of his cheek on the outside of his or her teeth, then let them swallow.
Also, the best way for a dog to cool down is for them to submerge his or her belly in water. Pictured is the Brittany bird dog Blixen (Karamojo’s Out of Africa Blixen) cooling off in an irrigation ditch during a summer training session.
My daughter, Hope, killed her first turkey this season. She is nine years old and used the same single shot .410 shotgun I for my first squirrel when I was nine. She has commented that her new favorite sport is no longer gymnastics…it is hunting.
Puppies are due 2nd week of May and would be going to homes sometime in the late June/early July 2020. $200 deposit holds a pick. These dogs are hunting and competition dogs. Between them, they have 13 documented AKC hunting field trial placements (9 for sire, 4 for dam).
Pups are located in Inkom, Idaho, about 2 hours from Salt Lake City, SLC, Utah.
SIRE: HIDEAWAY’S WHITE SMOKE (9 AKC field trial placements)- Smoke is an accomplished bird hunter and field trial dog. This is a special stud dog who had proved himself time and again in front of AKC field trial judges. He has 9 official AKC placements to his name and multiple points in both Open and Amateur divisions. Cove Mountain Kennels recently acquired this dog to add to our breeding and hunting program. The more recently in the line that the dogs have been proven through AKC field trial competition or hunt tests the better the chances of producing quality hunting or competition puppies.
DAM: Jeb N Ducks Orange Roughy Rouge – “Rouge” (4 AKC field trial placements)
OFA GOOD
Rouge is a stellar female with a build that we really like out here in the west. She is leggy and fast and has an incredibly hard point, a trait she passes to her pups. She was campaigned on the AKC field trial western circuit for a short period of time and was able to take four placements. She runs a very thorough pattern that is perfect for the foot hunter. She is a sweetheart, loves kids, adults and other dogs….but most of all she loves birds!
