• Brittany Puppies Coming Soon! Idaho Brittany Litter Expected July 29, 2018

    1. 9We recently had some breedings between two excellent dogs and excellent producers.

SIRE: American Field Champion August Rush (2011 Victoria Nationale Derby Winner) – This dog is one of the owners favorite stud dogs. He has an efficient loping gait and flat out covers ground. He is great at the longer stakes in competition because of his economy of motion and bottomless tank. This converts to a hunting dog that can run and run and find birds. This spring our kennel trained a son of August Rush and he was a very nice dog. He had a hard point, was trainable and extreme bird drive.

DAM: Jeb N Ducks Orange Roughy Rouge – “Rouge”
    OFA GOOD

Rouge is a stellar female with a build that we really like out here in the west. She is leggy and fast and has an incredibly hard point. She was campaigned on the AKC field trial western circuit for a short period of time and was able to take three placements. She runs a very thorough pattern that is perfect for the foot hunter. She is a sweetheart, loves kids, adults and other dogs….but most of all she loves birds!

Both parents are proven on the field and in front of AKC judges.  Our kennel owns a Rouge pup from a former litter and she has been great.

Litter is due about July 29, 2018. Litter ready for homes mid-September. Let us know if you would like to talk more about this litter or place a deposit. Call or text Nick at 314-954-5424. A $200 deposit holds a pick.

  • August Rush Son Training Dog Rockin’ It

This August Rush son we have had at the kennel for a client turned out awesome! Generally we can get a dog steady-to-wing in a two month training session. That is what Chris and I tell people to expect. However, we were able to get Gus to the next step: steady-to-shot in only two months. The dog has a lot of style. We have some half-siblings of this dog for sale now.

  • Idaho Brittany Puppies – Am. Field Champ August Rush/Kenya JH Litter Due Soon – Taking Deposits

American Field Champion August Rush (2011 Victoria Nationale Derby Winner) – This dog is one of the owners favorite stud dogs. He has an efficient loping gait and flat out covers ground. He is great at the longer stakes in competition because of his economy of motion and bottomless tank. This converts to a hunting dog that can run and run and find birds. I am currently training an August Rush son, Gus, for a client. I love the dog. He has a hard natural point, a solid retrieve and is a joy to have around the house.

Kenya Karamojo Bell JH – Kenya is a very proven hunter, AKC hunt test competitor and mother. She was very trainable and had a lot of point at a very young age. Kenya is the reason we purchased Stella and Rouge (full sisters of hers from different litters). Not only is Kenya a phenomenal hunting dog, but she has thrown excellent puppies, 8 or 9 of which we have trained at Cove Mountain Kennels. One of her pups, Boomer of Kenya, was trained and subsequently handled at an AKC field trial in and placed in an open division. It was not only amazing that it was his first trial, but he had a vet diagnosed upper respiratory infection at the time which certainly slowed him down. Kenya is a pistol in the field and a sweetheart at home.

This cross is bred for competition or hunting. These will be some nice pups from very proven parents. If you would like to know more or put down a deposit, give me a call or text at 314-954-5424.

Pups are due to be born around April 20, 2018 and should  be ready for homes around the first week of June, 2018.

  • Idaho Brittany Puppy Litter Announcement – GFC FC AFC Cooper/Stella JH -SOLD OUT-

We are pleased to announce a litter of AKC Brittanys. This is a special repeat breeding that we are very excited about. This will be Stella and Cooper’s third litter together. The first tie was November 9, 2017. We expect puppies around Jan 10, 2018 and ready for homes around March 1, 2018…This is great timing for those who want to train in the summer and be fully ready to hunt next fall.

SIRE: FC 2X RU, GFC FC AFC Staley’s Orange Outlaw Mr. Cooper – “Cooper”
    OFA EXCELLENT
Cooper is an AKC Field Champion and is still being campaigned on the AKC circuit and is picking up placements. The criteria for earning a Field Champion (FC) title are rigid and very difficult to attain. Cooper also has a Grand Field Champion (GFC) title and most recently an Amateur Field Champion title (AFC). Not only does Cooper have a phenomenal pedigree, but he has proven himself as a world class birddog on the field trial circuit and hunting field. I chose Cooper as a stud for the following reasons:
    -OFA Excellent
-Tell leggy build for covering ground
    -Intelligence
    -Natural retrieve
    -Natural honoring
-Desire to run and hunt with a bottomless tank
    – Calm at home and in kennel
    -Within breed standard for size

Cooper is a proven stud dog and has sired many great puppies…this is a repeat breeding and we have trained pups from this breeding and been very pleased.

DAM: Karamojo’s Dragon Tattoo JH – “Stella”
    OFA GOOD

Stella is a very proven hunter and mother. We have trained many of her puppies from clients and really liked them. Stella’s exceptional trainability passes to her pups very nicely. She has a hard point, a nice medium range pattern and flat out finds birds. She is a sweetheart off the field and an all-business workaholic in the field. She is calm at home and in the kennel. Just like Cooper, she is a pleasure to have at home. She has proven herself hunting wild birds with four species of native grouse, Hungarian partridge, chukar, pheasant and quail all under her belt. She has also proven herself in front of AKC judges by going four out of four for her hunt title with high scores and a total of eight finds all of which she held through the shot.

Both parents are proven on the field and have produced exceptional puppies. The sire is OFA Excellent and the dam is OFA Good for hip dysplasia. Field Champion/Grand Field Champion/Amateur Field Champion sired pups are not easy to find…much less from sires with all three titles. FC sired pups bred to AKC titled dams are even more difficult to find. Let us know if you would like to talk more about this litter or place a deposit. Puppies will be located near Pocatello, Idaho. Call or text Nick at 314-954-5424 for more info, to send a deposit, or to just talk brits and bird hunting. A $200 deposit holds a pick.

  • 7-month-old Brittany For Sale – FC Kid/Rouge Litter (OFA GOOD Parents) SOLD

We have a 7-month-old pup from out FC Kid/Rouge litter. Kid is an AKC Field Champ and 2015 Western All Age Futurity Champion as well. He is OFA Good. Dam is Rouge, a full blooded sister to Kenya and Stella who has three AKC field trial placements. Rouge, just like Kenya and Stella, is OFA Good for Hip Dysplasia.

This is a good breeding. He has been out for short pheasant hunts and pointed, but other than that not much has been done with him. He is colored well for visibility in the field. He is a nice puppy and will make a nice hunting companion.

We are willing to work with price for the right home.

This picture is a little old, but you get the idea.

Call or text Nick at 314-954-5424 for more info.

  • Idaho Opening Day Deer Hunt 2017

Here are two mule deer taken on opening day in Idaho’s general season. It took right at 3 hours to hike from the truck to the top of the mountain we wanted to hunt. Mine was killed around 10am. We spotted my friend Chess’s buck about 900 yards away bedded in the brush near some really cliffy stuff. We got to within 200 yards and Chess got him in his bed with his .243 about an hour before day. His buck was enormous and very old and definitely on the decline. The hike back was like fun but different 🙂 We each had an entire boned out mature buck on our backs. But it was worth it in the end!
