If you follow this site, you may remember the post about Ghost the Weimaraner from last summer. Ghost’s owner is being relocated to a place where owning him and doing him justice as an active hunting dog will be difficult. Ghost has been entrusted to Cove Mountain Kennels to find him a good home.

He is a pure bred Weimaraner. He is a two-year-old cut male. He did two months of training at Cove Mountain Kennels with me last summer. He is a solid hunting dog. When I finished with him he was steady-to-wing, whoa broke, did some retrieving, and was a pleasure to work with. I am currently working with him to tune him up for his next owner. Ghost lived inside at night and during the day when his owner was home, but in a run outside when his owner was at work.

I posted a couple of videos on www.youtube.com of Ghost for his owner when I was training him. You can find them by typing “npm352″ (my page) into the search box, or by typing in “Ghost the Weimaraner.” I will continue to tune up Ghost for the hunting season. The timing on this is perfect. If you are a hunter and want to own a Weimaraner that hunts, this is the dog. It is very risky to buy a Weimaraner as a puppy expecting it to hunt, and there aren’t a lot of for sale that do hunt.

As you will see in the pic, he is well built and has a very nice point.

Chris and I did a training session this week that was very neat. We are currently training 5 puppies from the two Kenya/Clown crosses. On Saturday, we came together and shot some birds for all of them. These dogs are all doing phenomenal. It is very rewarding to see such trainable dogs with such a strong bird drive that came from our breeding program. Here is a pic. From left to right: Maverick, Goose, Katniss, Boomer, and Duke.

Kenya’s (Kenya Karamojo Bell JH) sister, Stella (Karamojo’s Dragon Tattoo JH), is in heat and is going to be bred again to Dave Walker’s “The Clown” dog this week. We hope to have puppies on the ground in two months. Keep checking back for more info on that litter. They will go fast.

Here is another photo from a client with a very unique colored Brittany from the Stella/Clown cross. His name is Murphy. We love hearing about our pups!

We received this picture from a client who bought a puppy, Danner, earlier this summer. This puppy was from our Karamojo’s Dragon Tattoo JH (Stella)/Clown cross. Stella will be bred to Dave Walker’s “The Clown” sire later this week. Stay tuned for more puppies!

Here is a pic from yesterday of Boomer the American Brittany. This Brit is out of one of my Kenya/Clown crosses. Currently, we are training five different pups out of my two Kenya/Clown crosses. They are doing very well and are very trainable. It is exciting to work with the dogs we bred. Can’t wait to see how well they turn out!

We have one or two openings for training dogs from now until hunting season. It generally takes two months of training to get the dogs where they need to be. The time is now to have your dog ready for hunting season. In general, we like to get dogs at 7-8 months of age (or older), but often dogs are ready for serious training at 6 months. We have gotten some great photos lately of some of our latest litter of Brittany puppies in their new homes. We will try to post a few for you. Pictured here is Gus, now owned by Leah and Kevin down in Utah.

We have one male Brittany puppy still available. He is a nice pup with a middle-of-the-road temperament and some very cool facial markings. He is 7 1/2 weeks old and ready to go to his new home. At this point, 2 of the 9 puppies have been brought home with the rest going home this week or weekend.
