  • Brittany Puppies

We are excited to announce not one, but two American Brittany litters coming soon. Our field proven, AKC titled and OFA GOOD female, Kenya Karamojo Bell JH was bred to Twenty Grand Pete this past week and we are expecting a litter on the ground mid-April. The dam, Kenya, is a proven hunter and has thrown some fantastic puppies in the past. Cove Mountain Kennels has had the privilege of training with 5 of these pups from her previous litters and they were all great dogs and absolutely the most trainable dogs our kennel has seen. We can provide references. Kenya’s grandpa is Nolan’s Last Bullet, arguably the best Brittany ever. Her mother’s side is covered with blood out of NFC DC AFC Tequila’s Joker and other field champions. She is a pistol in the field and a pleasure to be around at home. She is stylish, fast and covers ground well. She hunts medium range, but will range in for grouse in the thick stuff or range further for sharptails on the prairie.

Also, Karamojo’s Dragon Tattoo JH (Stella, Kenya’s full sister) was also bred two weeks ago to Pete. This is rare for us to have two litters so close as we are only breeding two dams and their cycles are 6 months and 9 months. Stella is a pleasure to hunt with and a pleasure to be around. She was extremely trainable and is a great bird finder with a lot of style.

The sire of this litters, Pete, has the most stacked pedigree I have ever seen. This, combined with his excellent hunting skills, exceptional retrieving skills, and calm, even temperament, are why we chose him as a sire. Pete is a son of DC AFC Grand Junction Jake out of Illinois. In Pete’s five generation pedigree, there are 35 AKC field champions (FC). 10 of those are dual champions (DC). 9 of those are national field champion (NFC or AFC). There are also 8 show champions (CH) and a few AKC hunt test titled dogs as well. That is some serious blood for hunting and confirmation.

We breed for hunting/pointing, trainability and companionship. These dogs make hunting companion dogs or field trial prospects. We prefer hunting or field trialing homes, but sometimes make exceptions to individuals and families with an active and outdoorsy lifestyle.

Pups would be ready to go seven-eight weeks after that, sometime around mid-early June. We are located near Pocatello, Idaho. Scroll down for pics of other litters and the dam. We are currently accepting deposits. Give us a call at 314-954-5424 (Nick) or email at nickmuckerman@hotmail.com for more info, to set up a litter pick or to just talk Brits.

  • American Brittany Puppies Coming Soon

We will begin taking deposits for possibly two upcoming American Brittany litters. Both of the females, Kenya (Kenya Karamojo Bell JH) and Stella (Karamojo’s Dragon Tattoo JH), are AKC titled dogs. Both are being bred this week. Both have thrown proven puppies. We have worked with many of the pups from their previous litters and they are absolutely top notch (we have references.) We are using a new sire who is an excellent hunter with an unreal pedigree. We breed for hunting companion dogs as well as field trial contenders. Trainability, bird drive and temperament are the basis of our breeding program. Please scroll down for more info on each specific dam and stay tuned for more information. Call Nick at 314-954-5424 or email at nickmuckerman@hotmail.com for more information or if you would like to talk Brits. These pups have proven to go very fast because of the bloodlines and how proven past litters have been. Pictured is Kenya as an adult and Stella as a puppy herself.

  • Utah Pronghorn “MeatEater” Style

Chris, Sam, Hope and I were able to hunt together to fill a Utah pronghorn tag that took me six years to draw. It was close to the area Chris used to work as a Utah wildlife biologist. We had a blast, shot a solid 15 incher with a lot of character, and had a good meal of his heart shortly after. We never got a great look at the buck until after we got in close. We knew he had some mass, but all we got was sideways views and were thinking he was a little short in the horn. As you can see, he pics up inches with his radical downward hook. Once we made our stalk, we saw quite a few in the herd with ear tags and even one with a radio collar. When the herd buck stepped out Chris immediately said, “He’s good! Take him!” He was definitely right!

  • Early Season Chukar

Here is a pic of some HOT early season chukar hunting. Pictured is Kenya (Kenya Karamojo Bell JH) and Katniss (Karamojo’s GruGrux Queen) from our second Kenya/Clown cross. The dogs did well and pointed some birds and made some nice retrieves. Always remember to water your dogs frequently during the early season and hunt in the cooler times of the day. Always error on the side of caution and don’t get your dog in a dangerous situation with dehydration or heat stroke.

  • Getting Daisy (GSP) ready for bird season

We’ve been working Daisy, an 8 year old German shorthaired pointer to be ready for bird season this year. I think I first trained this dog when she was 2. She is has long been a good hunter, but was back with us this summer for some brush up lessons. Now she’s styled up and ready to go! I can’t wait for her owner to get her on chukars this year. They are going to have a ball together.
