• Brittany Litter Announcement! Brittany Puppies Coming Soon!

It looks like the Stella/Clown cross took. Stella (Karamojo’s Dragon Tattoo JH) is getting big and looking pregnant. Puppies should be on the ground March 24 and be ready for new homes 7-8 weeks after that. I am excited about this cross. Stella is an excellent hunter and companion dog. She holds an AKC JH title which she earned by going four for four in the AKC hunt test last March in Mayfield, Idaho. She has performed very well on Idaho wild birds including chukar, pheasant, forest grouse, sharptail grouse, sage grouse, and hungarian partridge. She is everybody’s friend and loves to play when she is not in the field. In the field she is all business. One of the reasons I am excited about this litter is that Stella was the most trainable dog I have ever worked with. She wanted to please. Once she knew what I wanted, she would do it.

The Clown is a Dave Walker dog whom I have used past breeding with Stella’s older sister, Kenya. He is a magnificent hunter. Dave Walker’s reputation for producing fine dogs is legendary.

I am currently taking deposits on this litter.

  • Possibly More Brittany Puppies in Near Future!

We are excited to announce the breeding of Karamojo’s Dragon Tattoo JH (Stella) to Dave Walker’s The Clown. Stella is currently with Dave and is to be bred any day. Hopefully we can get a lock and some excellent puppies.

Stella is Kenya’s younger sister. I was so impressed with Kenya I bought Stella out of a later litter from the same cross. She has proved to be a great bird dog. She has been the most trainable bird dog I have worked with to date. She went four for four on her AKC Junior Hunter title at a young age. She has been death on chukars this season. The Clown has been throwing great pups and there is a reason I am breeding to him again.

The Kenya/Clown cross puppies were basically sold before they were born. I think this will also be another great cross with some great pups. Stay tuned. If she takes, puppies would be born late April and be available to go home sometime in June.

  • Brittany Puppies Born! One Male Available

I wanted to give you the update on the puppies from this weekend. Kenya started laboring around 11:00pm Friday. Over the next five hours she dropped 5 beautiful puppies, four liver and white males, and one orange and white female. We could still feel another pup in her and she kept laboring for several more hours, but had slowed down and was exhausted. The puppy just was not coming, even after a Oxitosin shot to speed up contractions. We rushed her to the vet and had her looked at. She was given even more drugs to help speed up her contractions, but it still was not happening. Eventually, they were pretty certain that the puppy was not alive and two different vets tried to pull it out with no success. They performed a c-section to remove the last pup, a male. He was stuck in the birth canal with his head twisted backwards and one front arm forward. Kenya could have pushed for another year and not gotten the puppy out naturally. It was a very sad deal. Not only did we lose the pup, but Kenya will likely have to have a c-section if I breed her again.

The puppies are doing very well. They are all feeding and the vet said that they looked robust and healthy. They got their tails docked and dew claws removed yesterday. The future chukar slayers are content just sleeping and eating now.

All of the pups were spoken for before they were born, but there is now one male available due to a gentleman dropping out who was set on a female. There is more information about the cross on this blog from about a year ago when she was last bred.

If you are interested in a male, please email nickmuckerman@hotmail.com or call Nick at 314-954-5424.

  • American Brittany Litter Announcement

We are pretty sure that Kenya and The Clown have had a successful lock once again. This is a second time breeding of two top notch American Brittanys. Both dogs are stellar hunting dogs out of very nice lines. Both dogs have been OFA certified GOOD.

The pups, if Kenya is pregnant (which she sure looks it) should be on the ground in another month and ready to go around Christmas!

These pups will probably go fast. At this point, three have been spoken for. I will try to post more info on the pups as we find out, but please scroll down on this site to view information about the dam and sire from the first breeding last year.

  • Happy Dogs, Happy Clients, Dead Birds

We love hearing about the dogs that we work with. Here are a couple of pictures from dogs we trained this summer. The setter, Gus, did a very nice job in training and his owner has had him on a lot of birds this season. This is his first wild bird, a hun, taken shortly after the season opened.

The German Shorthair Pointer is a female named Char that turned out very nicely. I just got this picture today of her with some ruffed grouse in Wyoming.

  • 3-year-old Female Bluetick Big Game Hound *SOLD*

I have owned Gator since she was five months old. She is a nice little dog that has had a lot of individualized attention. I only own 2-3 hounds at a time. She has seen over 30 bears and one of those she caught on her own. She has seen over 20 lions. Almost half of those lions it was just her and one other dog. She has caught a couple of coons. She is medium nosed and open on a track with a sharp, distinctive, high pitched yelp. She is a good stay put tree dog and barks every other breath at the tree. She does not pull hair, but has hung tight with a couple of bad bears and has not left a bad one yet. I do a lot of foot hunting for lions so she handles well. I often hike her back 2-4 miles in the snow and she will walk within 10 yards of me unless she finds a cat track. She has turned her head into other dogs at the tree and face-barked and been corrected. It comes up once and again when she is not hunted down. I do not want to sell her, but want to spread out the age range of my pack of 3. With a wife prego with twins, I can’t keep her.

She is microchipped and up to date on shots (rabies, bordetella, 5-in-1). Spayed.

    $1500 firm.

  • A Good Training Session

Last night Chris and I had a very good training session with multiple dogs at different stages. We worked on whoa, handling, quartering, pointing and even shot some birds for a couple of the dogs. It was a beautiful night and I thought this photo was worth sharing. Pictured is a setter named Gus that is coming along very well.
